Spring Training season is one of my favorite times of year. We welcome visitors from near and far to enjoy our baseball facility, hotels, restaurants and more. Surprise is home to the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers MLB teams. The teams have a full schedule that will include 29 games played from February until March! Sunset Theater will feature “Three Sopranos the Songbirds” on Saturday, February 8 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Northwest Regional Library, 16089 N. Bullard Ave. This performance will offer stunning voices in an exciting program. Reservations are required, and tickets are $14 each. Sunday in the Park Food Truck Festival will be held from 12-4 p.m. on February 9. Please come stop by Mark Coronado Park, 15960 N. Bullard Ave, for live classic rock music by Steven P & Diversity Jukebox and a variety of delicious food trucks. Please remember to bring your chairs and blankets. Admission is free; food and drink will be available for purchase.
The Surprise Senior Center, 15832 N. Hollyhock Street, is hosting the Senior Center Sweetheart Dance on Friday, February 14 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Residents can enjoy lunch, live music and dancing. Tickets are $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Grab your sweetheart and start your Valentine’s Day with this fun event!
Artisan Treasures Cool Daze Food Truck and Handmade Market is being held at Mark Coronado Park, 15960 N. Bullard Ave, on Saturday, February 15 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. This event is hosted by Wood & Me Custom Creations and will feature over 150 local artists and vendors. WHAM, What’s Happening Art Movement, is hosting Poetry Slam Open Mic Night on Friday, February 21 from 6-8 p.m. WHAM is located at 16560 N. Dysart Road. Everyone is welcome to attend this free public event that offers opportunities to perform and listen. There is no registration required.
